We have two options, one will be a better job, the other will feel like a bodge. So we decided we need a new side panel for here as there is just too many dents and repairs and holes. The lower panel beneath the window needs to be solid with no or minimal rust, but the window opening can be in any condition as we will be only using the panel. Has anybody got anything we can use? we are in kent, and would prefer not to travel too far to pick up. Hope somebody has one lying about... we need it asap. Regards, PHIL
yeah i saw them but we would rather use old stock. somebody is bound to have one about. Im going to try mega bug tomorrow too when it is open. If we use a new sheet, we could end up losing the original shape, that is my worry.
you wont lose the shape, the panel has the reinforcing strips on it, to try and unpick an original one will be pretty difficult, a used one is unlikely to be dent free, the ones sold a genuine vw brazil so fit as good as you could ask for. heritage isnt all that far from you either, though they are pretty cheap on post
I used one from heritage, they are VW Brazil and fit spot on, they are lhd but as you only need the bottom its not a problem, and come with the ribs spot welded to the back you can ge the sill as well from them, much easier than unpicking a cut out.
