Its happened to me on all my resto's the morris minor , the t25 and now the westy , i get it almost done and suddenly stop , no enthusiasm , no interest zilch , nada , i don't do anything for ages ,then all of a sudden i finish it ???

i am getting my mojo back now , but can't understand why it always happens , does it happen to everyone or just me ?

  2. It happends to me when I lose momentum or life gets in the way ,but if my resto was a customers bus it would be finished now...

also there`s the list of excuses you give to you loved ones ,well I need a petrol tank or a brake cylinder or my welder is broke ,i can think of more..

i can work where there is a deadline ,book the mot usually does it for me... 8)

  3. Its happend to me before normally when it gets to the easy part of bolting everything back together

I find a weekend at a show normally gives me the inspiration to crack on and finish it

I like to think of it as part of the whole process, whether it be a car, motorbike or house.
We lived for 2 years with no real floors because I'd (momentarily) lost the enthusiasm for renovating our house. It eventually came back & the job was finished.

  7. Basically you're walking the middle ground; at the beginning you're full of enthusiasm, when you can see the end in sight that excited feeling comes back! The middle ground, it's lasts as long as it's lasts, hopefully not as long as Dogs ;)

  10. I am sure that a psychologist would tell you that it is something to do with your parental instinct, you have put time and energy into the project and it has become your child, your momentary lapse of enthusiasm is down to you not wanting that child to leave home.

You have however now realised that your children never leave home and will always require your attention, there is also the pride that you will feel when people comment on how well you have brought them up.

    Enjoy your children :)

  11. I get it all the time, take a few pictures & videos then all of a sudden I'm interested again. I look at other peoples restos & I look back at earlier pictures to see how far I've come it makes a big difference. :)

I often think its because your near the end and though the hard Grady is done, it's actually the small items that make you go "argh!!" because they are the silly jobs. And then there is the respray which is one massive expense in one go.

So sell your hard work and start again. That way someone else gets a nice bus with the hard bits done. I've seen so many projects like that for sale.
