  1. finally got one problem stopping me from running leaky bushes.......anyone used the ebay brass ones, did they work ?

  2. If you've got the nylon bushes in your solex, yes. If you've got steel bushes, leave well alone.

Leaky spindles are the symptom, not the cause - check your float valve's shutting off properly.

  3. Yeah they are nylon silly oval shaped bits.....everything was ok ..just really bad leak at the spindles on one side...thanks snotty

  4. I fitted them to a 34pict3 - it had orginal fibre bushes - there is a video on YouTube showing how to pull the old bushes out without stripping downthe spindle assembly .... ingenious!!

  6. When i replaced the bushes on a solex with the brass ones from ebay they didnt fit properly
The outside diameter was too small so i had to loctite them in place in the carb body and they were too tight on the spindle and stuck
So i removed the butterfly and put the spindle in a drill chuck added a few drops of light oil and span the drill for a while till the spindle moved freely

They did cure the air leak after that though

I wish someone sold new spindles and bushes that were machined to match

  7. Agree, but everything wears differently, so would be tricky to do. For a perfect fit, you'd prob need to ream them.

I've done two carbs with the eBay bushes and they've fitted well enough.

  8. thers 3 people selling bushes on ebay ...i gather all different spec....think mr robinson is the orignal and genuine dude.....i had drips coming thru the spindles...float is cool man

  9. Even brand new spindles will leak fuel if the float valve isnt shutting off properly

Take the valve out and blow through it then press the pin in on it if you can still blow through it its shot

You may also find if you have the plastic retaining clip for the float in the wrong way round the float wont raise high enough to fully shut of the valve

Ive an empi carb from big rich at cool air on my bus and apart from the o rings fitted to the adjustment needles being poor quality
Its not given me any problems

I thought you had fitted a replacement carb this year jonny dude

  10. ^ what para said. Fuel's coming from somewhere...
