Sometimes it pays to be a little cheeky

  1. My RAC breakdown is up for renewal in March and the renewal letter quoted £123 because i had a callout last May (for a bloody blown fuse which i managed to diagnose before they turned up).
Called them up and said i wanted to cancel as its too expensive and got the usual "if it was offered cheaper would i stay" spiel.

Anyway, after saying the AA was £71 for the same cover i got 2 free months cover and a monthly payment plan for no extra cost. £68 a year. £55 saving. ;D

  2. Ahh, But are you saving £55, or are they just not ripping you off for that £55?

    Well done though mate.

good work buddy, i left the aa in the end as i was sick of having to phone them to question their yearly price hike only to have it instantly halved! just imagine how many people just go with it!

  4. I was paying £56 last year as i was getting a discount for no callouts (RAC give 5% or 10% discount a year if you don't use them) so i thought a renewal price of £123 for just one callout in 6 years was a little steep.
