Rhubarbs developed a squeal on the os back wheel its pretty continuous but seems worse when i pull up almost grating , any ideas what area i should begin the investigation , brakes , bearings or drive shafts ?. I would be grateful for any input
Have you had the wheel of the ground and checked for any play? Id do that first then pull the drum and check inside to see if anythings moved or rubbing
Back plate picking up on the rim of the drum makes an interesting noise. Turning the wheel slowly whilst off the ground will reproduce the noise if its that. Cured by removing the wheel and giving the lip of the backplate a tap inboard using a bit of steel bar resting against the lip and a gentle application of a hammer...you will have to rotate the drum a few times to locate exactly the point at which it is rubbing
As Snotty I had new backplates and old drums and they scraped like mad. Replaced the drums and they still did it (drums were badly scored) so ground the backplates a bit. They are still scraping a bit but getting better. Only done about 60 miles on them.
Hi had a noise from one of my wheel it turned out to be the pin with the spring and clip that holds the brakes shoes on had come off(well head rusted off) and the spring and clip was between the shoes and drum Paul
just replace my drums and back plates on mine rub, rub,rub as i drive along 1 side had stopped now but the other still does it a bit
I was going to but im not sure now, if the MOT man fails them ill let him put them on then take it back if they rub lol
