Apparently the valve seat had dropped, but then gone nearly back into place, but not enough to avoid losing compression

... in my capacity as chap who stood there and watched other people do the work

 

So it's been too hot at some point.

Another amazing weekend. Bus purred along the whole way home. I’ll try to get there for longer next time!

Im home now, and had a much betterer run home than I did getting there on Friday. The traffic was so bad on the M32, M4, M5, M6 and every interconnecting road that I went near on Friday but a lovely uninterrupted run home this afternoon. Where’s all the piccies of them Gert big ice creams then ??? I never think, oh I should take pictures Doh! Great time, great fun, and actual work did take place

What a weekend - great to see familiar faces and meet new folks.

Massive thank you to anyone who assisted with the clutch bearing and carb cleaning out/balancing thing while I haplessly bumble along in my hungover state- from actual spannering to providing nuts, bolts and screws that I “overlooked” putting on….

The great news is the bus flew home - it idles nicely and has the power I remember rather than the wet fart it was on the way up. No popping, banging, or general terribleness ready for the season.

Thank you all and enjoy the after sun lotion.

Remember - you can put a Porsche engine in those - it’s only 3 bolts…

 

It did sound nice when you got back from your test drive

It seems so.

I don't have a cht gauge.

Oil temperatures have always been fine.

 

By some miracle I actually booked that weekend off work months ago - so maybe see you all in September

 

Could have been air leak on just that one, or a partially blocked main jet, or a weak spark delaying the combustion or... loads of things.
