Im memory of red foldy..







With an old bike used by a local fishmonger from the harbour fish sales,

 

Foldy bike has been a bit redundant lately..
I bought this, last year,
for £15 on ebag..

1965 elswick whirlwind..

It hadn't whirled for 30 years...



And tarted it up..

 

You'll regret sitting on that saddle

 

And I don’t think there’s much stem left in the head tube either!

I wouldn’t go pulling on the bars very hard, or braking suddenly! The bars might part company with the bike!

 

Pah! There's a good 3mm there. No problem (unlike the testicle-removing saddle).

 

I did pump the tyres up
and rode it in 1 gear..

 

I did clean it up...
Then after gear upgrades needed to do this..

 

Needed to lengthen the chain I guess!
Aren’t those arrows on the quicklinks both supposed to point forwards?

Its done a lot of miles like that..

 

Nearly threw it out for 6 months..
Couldn't decide why i needed it..

Then i thought..
Gravel bike..

 

I think they’re actually just to remind one that the pin should be locked back into the slot.

Anyway, miles better than all the faffing about with a chain tool to drive in a new pin in the old days, that was a pain!

 

God I almost remember that word-for-word!

 

That has really brought me back.

 

Especially the last line, bet you said it before he did.

Fitted a brookes saddle to this bike..
Rode it...
Horrendous thing compared to modern seats

Sold it on..
