  1. Bought a palm sander, which should speed things up. Great tool, should've got one years ago.

Air or electric? I've been thinking of getting one too.

  3. 18V deWalt, to go with my other stuff. Works pretty well, and you're not tripping over cables.

The sun was out, so I went for a 'test drive' because I could.

First time out since I adjusted the clutch, other than just back and forth along my drive, it was a pleasure, rather than a worry to sit at the lights, knowing that when they turned green I could just snick it into first and proceed on my merry way. Previously every time I came to a stop was a worry.

  11. The rain shelter is complete, pending a tidy up. Yes, I did use a couple of pop rivets to temporarily hold stuff in place. Don't judge me.

Do you remember FidoDido? He would have left that filler how it is and just painted it. He used one of his wife's pottery tools for filler.

  16. I remember him on here (or was it JK?) getting into a row with the Broquet Fuel Saver fellow. Most amusing :)

He taught my son's GF at Nottingham University.

Finished off painting three of my four brake backplates (the current ones on Major are shot all round).

Backplate # 4 (rear one) had an issue, the star adjuster housing was welded offset to the mounting holes and the brake should would not have sat square.

Schofield's despite me buying them at the start of last august said to pop it in the post and they would gladly swap it for a good one. Excellent service!

  19. That Broquet thread was hilarious. If you're making claims about the fuel-saving effect of a catalyst "that science doesn't really understand", the last thing you want is to get into an arguement with an top-notch organic chemist. Most amusing.

The ASA eventually banned Mr Broquet for making his claims in the UK.

I Googled Broquet as I remember arguing with a relative about some magic beans he'd bought to put in his tank to save fuel, he swore by them, I was convinced it could only be snake oil, as a great Scottish engineer once said, "you cannae change the laws of physics". My Google result raises more questions than it answered...

Broquet is a specialty bouquet range, designed by Fig & Bloom for men to send to their 'bros' as a unique gesture to check in with one another.

    Er.. what?
