Mine thought it a good idea after the sliding door fell off, to leave the door standing in a puddle, open the cab windows, remove the rear hatch glass and leave it for six years outside.

  7. My campers previous owners have paid four times for new sills and crossmembers according to the paperwork

I cut off the original german crossmembers where they were rotten
I feel sorry for the previous owners getting ripped off like that

  9. If it was`nt for previous owners botching the vehicles up we would not be driving round in them now...Henry the pickup had loads of botches and I have added a few more as well...

I wonder how many busses are running without the little rubber sleeves over the end of the clutch and handbrake cables
Vwh sell them but there on back order

    another piece of bling.. ;D

Maybe present day bus owner have become more richer now... ;)

  10. Mine was missing a piece of the tinware under the engine. But its ok. I replaced it with some metal shaped from a Mexican road sign that was wedged on top of the fuel tank. This seemed to be there stop the tank from rattling (along with the mechanics t shirt).

I also found old and brittle fuel pipes held on with twists of fencing wire

I once found a stash of grass under a customers wooden headliner. Mostly seeds - 80's columbian I reckon. I smoked it anyway - would have been rude not to. :)

  15. Well, I am feeling a little smug as my bus has has not suffered too badly from PO mis-fettling. Sure it had a few Scotch locks on the electric windscreen washer installation and the DVD wiring was cr4p, but they were easily fixed. Even the ancient three way electrolux fridge still works perfectly three ways. There had been some poor welding earlier (from the failed MOT records) but the PO had a good guy put it all right. I have owned plenty of clasic vehicles and my bus is the best of them all. (they all had scotch locks!)
