A quick search myself shows that his views are not recorded, but it seems anecdotally that he was aware and sympathetic to the issues and it also transpires that the views of native Americans are also varied.
Just had a chance to do a little reading. I think it is easy to point the finger at the song and say that it ignores the indigenous population. There are two version that don't usually get sung, and one of them calls out explotive land owners who didn't really have rights to own the land. The song isn't a patriotic one, though I think some Americans think it is. It doesn't talk of flag waving or how great the USA is but that the place is for all of us and how it has been spoilt by greed. Guthrie certainly was a political singer.
