  1. yet another question... (sorry)

Been out on to work the van today today to see if can get a few jobs done. Noticed slight smell of petrol (which was surprise as everything replaced at end of Summer). When inspect the hose that joins to the tank, it had been leaking from there slightly.

Replaced the clip with a new one, but despite tightening it fully, If i put a little bit of pressure on the fuel hose from one side to the other, you get a faint wet patch appear slightly. Its as if it coming out the end of the fuel house.

At the moment its not leaking or anything, but just wanted to know if perhaps the fuel clip needs to be a smaller one?

    Thanks

Yes, I'd go down a size. I like to be able to tighten until the pipe doesn't slip when you twist it + a little bit more.
Can't recommend a size as the outer size varies a bit from make to make.

  3. Thanks very much - just ordered some 9-11mm ones and will try that

    Karma your way!

Sounds a bit small - what size did you have in the pic?

  5. They are 11-13mm....

    :-

  6. What size is your fuel hose?

  7.
  8. 6mm will be the internal size

  9. You can tell if it's tight enough when it pinches the tube like a corset on a lady.....

  10. The pipe you are connecting to doesnt look at its best ?? Looks like its been leaking around their for a while??

  13. Thanks very much for replies.

What should the size of the pipe be for joining to the tank? All other fittings in the van seem to be fine and pinched up nice and tight. Perhaps this piece of metal pipe is smaller than other fittings?

Unless it was obviously sloppy it looks like it should seal fine if you get a slightly smaller clip - inbetween what you had and what you just ordered. From memory I think you'll struggle to get the smaller ones on the pipe.

  15. OK.

Just ordered some 10-12mm clips. Should definitely have something that fits it better now.

    Thanks

  17. your fuel hose is too large. You need the 5.6mm hose for the tank end.
    :)

  19. that fuel clip looks like it tightened up fully, you would be right to go down a size..
