  1. hi, just retrieved my bus from guy who welded it (extensively) question is >the underside, specifically the panels that cover the chassis rails ,the cables and all that stuff, are they supposed to be bolt on for access? or not ? sinking feeling in tummy as assume answer is bolt on (mine now 100%welded ,ta for input /advice people

  2. Bolted for ease of access, although some people dont have any ::)

  3. I believe outside pans are welded....middle one is bolted...

  4. I'm sure the outer pans were fully welded as they are there to provide rigidity. The centre pan where fitter and front pan were bolted on.

  5. You are possibly right, mine only ever had the middle one !!!

  6. My middle is bolted but im welded on outter ones edge.

  7. the belly pans at either side are usually welded and the large one in middle is bolt on

  8. re my previous question re underside panels being all/totally welded in place, as i will no doubt have to access the (now)enclosed area could any of you very kind bus owners give/get me measurements off the middle (removable) panel , particularly , as it is ,on my van , now part of it all, where might be a good point to start cutting it out, so i can refit as removable /access panel , obviously wanna avoid all those bits not to be cut, if i start dead centre , and come out say 15inch either side , any opinions please and once again ,thanks all

  9. Early vans upto at least '72 had all the belly pans welded on, it was only later that the middle one was bolted on. If you're cutting them off, 2 inches in from the edge should be fine all the way round, apart from the front of the middle pan at each side where the chassis widens underneath. cut further in there.

  10. thanks Brothernumberone, shall act on your info, need to at least rewire me bus.
