Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by ironage, Apr 29, 2012.

  1. Hi

I've a Oil bath Air Cleaner fitted but i'm unsure of how to connect it up to get the hot air flap to work, theres a vacuum? connection on the control, also theres two connections on top of the filter? and theres a larger connection near the crankcase breather pipe thats not connected to anything? can anyone help where these connect to please?

    Many Thanks

    Graham

  3. Excellent thanks for the speedy reply. I wondered what those pipes were attached to the top of the engine bay and going up to the rear vents, now i know! only trouble is my manifold only has a vacuum take off for brake servo and theres one on the carb for a Dizzy i'm not using. can i just leave the hot air flap closed? will it make much difference?

    Thanks

  4. I can't see from your pic but do you have the connection at 'E' as you could use that one. The flap allows hot air to be used to prevent carb icing so is advantageous.

  5. No i haven't, but i am using a 009 Dizzy so can i use the redundant vacuum connection on the carb?

  6. no, that gives a vacuum in a different way to the manifold port.

  7. Ok, cheers for your help, what about a T piece cut into the Servo hose?

  8. That would work as you need a constant vacuum as long as you can seal the T piece properly.
