Hi guys and gals, I am measuring up for a fridge and in my available space it seems a Weaco Coolmatic CR50 will fit perfectly. However I am a bit worrid it only runs 12v and not 240 & gas too? Does it take an age to cool down? does it use a lot of my leisure battery if parked up for a weekend? Any advice? Tanks, Lee.
Comes with a mains adapter. 40W = 40/12 = 3.3amps . You shouldn't use more than half your battery capacity so if you had a 100Ah battery you have 50Ah at 3.3 per hour = 15 hours. 12v is only really of use for driving while being powered by the alternator.
This one works out as 30w and it's a freezer maintaining -18C so a better fridge must be available. http://www.shoreline-marine.co.uk/freezers/chest-freezers/mini-chest-freezer-cf35r
It is thermostatically controlled so compressor will not run continuously, I would hope the battery lasts at least two days. I have one fitted in our bus, so I'm ever hopeful!! One of my pals had a CR50 fitted in his sailing boat in which he did three return transatlantic crossings, and he swears by this make of fridge. Tony
Agreed I was just doing the worst case scenario/easy calc so when his battery went flat he wouldn't be surprised.
i have a 110A/H battery, a 80w solar panel and a CR50 fridge in mixed weather it has run for 5 days before i moved on i don't tend to stay in one place for ant longer so not sure how long it would run for
i have gone 6 days with a Waeco fridge + lights , TV , radio etc on twin 80 A/H batteries they hardly use any battery
@pkrboo has got an awesome fridge the Berlin/Campmobile fridge box space. I can't remember off the top of my head which model it is but it's an upgrade I may take myself in the future.
I saw one of the Waeco 50's in action, a customers next door neighbour had a bus! Awesome thing, had ice cubes in it, on my shopping list!
