My 74 westie rock has signs of a catch mechanism that may have been fitted but after trawling through the Internet I am none the wiser what should be there ? Any ideas ? Although I have just bought all the metal bed assembly from a Westie and this catch came with it (see picture of components ) but i do not think it is the type for my bed . Ideally I would like the correct catch on mine . Any help or pictures appreciated.
A catch is screwed to the bed part and this engages in the rest of the mechanism in the panel underneath where there is a hole in the Formica. That's the general idea but mine was missing when I got the bus. I managed to get the parts but when I installed them I found it was a real nuisance as it took two hands to raise the seat. As you can see I don't have the catch on the bed bit just two screws where it should go. It's the bracket with the large hole on the bottom right of you picture. I'm not sure all the bits you have are needed - the one on the left with three holes is probably off a cupboard. Do you have the panel that goes under the bed or is it different to mine which is a 79?
Hi, Thanks for reply back .Mine does not have the large hole in the formica and just a mystery phillips headed screw in the formica front .The only remnants in the lid is two holes (which do not line up.with my new catch . I am sure this catch is not correct for my bus but wondering what is ? Also the 3 holed bracket , any idea where this goes ?
Will post some pics tomorrow but I do have a few fittings for the Westie bed that are surplus such as lots of the L-brackets , a complete oval shaped cupboard door , a latch assembly (as pictured ) , prop for the seat lid and a few more bits and pieces .
Hi if you have one of these latches spare I would be very happy to buy off you as not managed to find one and mine is missing - thanks
