Hi I'm helping a friend sell her bus for her, but it's difficult to value. It's a 1979 Westy Alabama import. Not totally original but lots of original features. Westy campmobile deluxe cupboards, carpets, fridge, electrics, hob etc.. t4 2.0l engine fuel injection. Really solid underneath. Good cab steps and cab floor. But the bottom 1/3 of every panel wants replacing and probably what lies beyond those panels. This is due to the fact that it's been in Portsmouth for 10 years. And the sea air has taken its toll. Both cab doors will need to be replaced. It's got power steering and a tow bar. Please let me know what you lot think it's worth. I reckon it would make a great bus for someone who has the bodywork skills, tools and garage Cheers folks £6,999 (Ono). Sent from my SM-G780G using Tapatalk
I would say 4-5k is about the max you could charge for that. There is a lot of work involved in making it mint.
I'd go higher, just check the junk on ebay at that price? Couple of doors, a few part panels and you're laughing. Shame about the ruddy great dent down the passenger side, though even that's not the end of the world. I reckon a week of panel hacking but I've been known to look on the bright side! I'm not going to guess a price, just check the sold items on ebay and have a stab.
Take the doors away and it’s not “too” bad. I’m surprised how clean the under side is. It is a Westy ( don’t see too many here in Australia) a left hooker though. If all the mechanical stuff is ok, and you swap those doors out, I can see it getting a better price. If steering, brakes, suspension and motor are in need of work and you leave those doors on you might have trouble getting any interest
Thanks all. I did say to her about 6k, so I think that is in the @Zed ball park. Yes probably needs a service but started up and ticked over lovely. Brakes have just been done. The lady in question is now a TLB member just signed up. So hopefully she will be along soon to take charge of this post, and give a bit more detail of the history. Please keep your estimated values rolling in and we’ll get looking on sold on eBay. all the best p.
If I still had the tools and a workshop I'd snap it up for that TBH, a little bit of graft and you'd have a nice late Westy for peanuts. I did notice the bottom has dropped right out of project buses when I looked on Ebay earlier though. Typical classic car recession behaviour, the good ones retain the value, the rest plummet.
I agree. Even I’m tempted but I don’t have the premises. I’d love to have a go on it as it’s so solid underneath.
Great resto for somone - 2k in bits and a steady few months work , job done . As mentioned before the underside looks minty and that`s the hard bit
Hello @Bobbybusforsale is waiting for a confirmation email to activate her account. Would the mods be able to sort this for her so that she can reply to this thread with a for sale price and any additional info. Thanks a lot. P.
I like it and as Zeddle said it’s good on the important bits , Well worth a punt Value for money I would say That is honest rust you can see Good luck with the sale
No problem. Let’s get a price nailed down on this and see if we can sell it. So some on here think it’s slightly on the cheap side at 6k but I get a sense that 7k might be pushing it. Is that a fair summary? If so £6.5 might be a good place to be. Anyone on here interested or think @Bobbybusforsale would be miles out either way at this price? And I suppose, ultimately would anyone on here be interested in buying it, or know of anyone who would be?
$25,000 for panel beating and respray at least. Then reassemble it all and getting it working could be another$10,00. Then upholstery…….. These are only worth around $50,000- $80,000 when restored
When I had a paint shop I could have DIY'd that for £2K max. Only need lower have respray, interior looks good to me.
