what heater is it mate? i wasn't aware of a 'berlin heater' is it an aftermarket one such as propex etc? for example most gas heaters need to be purged of air and have good voltage to ignite, make/model or pic would help.

  3. Most heaters have a Piezo ignition, this is a resistance button that fires a spark through and HT lead to a Spark electrode.

The ignition Piezo normally lasts for years, any problem is normally a fautly HT lead or connections. Also check the condition of the ceramic around the spark electrode.

This link shows a basic picture of the three items.. http://proto-pic.co.uk/piezo-igniter/?gclid=COGY1KOfkbICFc93fAodoVUAIA

    Hope this helps

    It’s probably a Trumatic-s, that’s what Westfalia fitted to the Berlin. http://thelatebay.com/index.php?topic=3162.0

I don’t have one anymore but they are simple things, take the cover off and have a poke around. Check that gas is getting to the burner and the spark ignition works – it might need a battery but more likely to be a piezo. And there is probably a flame failure thermocouple to shut off the gas if the flame goes out.

  5. As per 77 Westy^^^. Mine had a battery unit behind the driver's seat, though I've no longer got the heater fitted.
