Hi all, I'm new to owning a camper, so please be nice! With the heavy rain recently I've noticed the van's battery in the engine bay is swimming in water. From my powers of deduction, looks like rain is entering through the air vents and collecting around the battery (happens on the nearside too). There doesn't seem to be any drainage and water is being funnelled down on the battery. Am I missing something obvious or is this the norm? I'm concerned obviously that electrics and water do not mix... Obviously the solution is to use a cover or to garage the van, but what about when you are on site or driving?
there are supposed to be drain holes under the battery and you could do worse than raise the battery a fraction on little bits of plastic so the water can drain.
You may find a bung in the drain hole. Simple solution is remove the bung and your problems will be over. I don't know why some had bungs in but they are totally pointless.
dont start that again, i couldnt bring myself to post on that thread for fear of getting modded into oblivion.
have not fear - its muff weekend. They are doing the job though, its raining sideways straight into the passenger side at the moment and my offside muff is only damp on the outside. CSI Will - These are only for use parked up though. Don't drive with anything covering your air vents.
Am intrigued by the muffs! Any chance you can post a pic, am having trouble visualising how you've created it (tried to follow instructions but am not quite with it!)
Thanks for that, will check out your post when I get home. Seems that my computer at work is not diplaying the images.
