had a sliding door from fbi a few weeks ago i put my old hinges etc on it today and as daft as it sounds it just don't seem tall enough :thinking it seems about right at the back where the middle hinge supports it but at the front gone as far as packing up the bottom roller a good 6 mm but still it s not close the old door fitted ok
Have you measured the doors and checked the dimensions (across ways and top to bottom) to see how they differ
no and no i am sure its the right door as it has the key lock in the door and not in the handle as was the case on earlys and prototypes i am pretty sure it s the right size although never got round to measuring it but it seems to be a problem with the bottom rollers not taking the door high enough even with the shim under it
If the door is same (as in lock positions) it may be the roller adjustment needs tweaking patiently!! It may be a matter of adjusting it up and down till it fits correctly..I am not fully sure on this as we have yet to do Gusbus'
It must be the bottom hinge adjustment. Moving the large screw away from the door skin and the part of the bracket with the 2 smaller screws towards it will angle the roller downwards, lifting the door. If the backet is scraping on the runner it needs this adjustment. If it needs full welly on this approach it may be difficult to get it to stay there without making a tapered packer.
the bottom roller looks like it wants moving to me, looks to be kicked towards the van you will gain maybe 6mm on that it can also be packed up another 6mm by putting spacers under the door where the 2 allen key bolts go up into the bottom, there is adjustment on the height of the top roller bracket and also on the top roller too, maybe get 25 mm of adjustment out of the allowance on all 3.
As mentioned above. But I'd also offer the door up to the hole to make sure it fits. It should. It will. I don't remember doors being different sizes unless you buy one from J......ust about anyone who only sells parts for a Transit This way you can align the top roller and see what's going on with the bottom roller. It doesn't look much but the small amount of adjustment makes a massive difference to the fitment.
the bottom bracket is fine as it came of the original door which did nt fit but in a different way it had been forced open and so was not the right shape no more as in if the top half was fitting flush the bottom would stick out plus dinted to buggery i ll have another mess in the morning
I think I had this problem when reassembling mine (however it was a long time ago). As my door was repaired I thought it may have been an error in the measurements on the welding side of things but I got it right in the end with lots of adjustments. Stick at it and it'll turn out good in the end.
had another go today and got it better but had use a lot of packing and it still won't shut right on the handle edge i am thinking the door might be bent ?
Have you tried offering the door up to the opening without the brackets/rollers etc. This will tell you what sort of a fit your going to get. If it is bent that is a pain and shouldn't have been sold in that condition. Could it be re-shaped do you think?
a few more pics if you look at where the glass goes the top looks twisted not happy ps it s the blue one i am trying to use
