I’ve degreased the alloy cab window trim keyed it up with red scotchbrite masked off the rubber and given it a coat of etch primer. I’ve also stripped down the opening quarter light and frame to refurb and fit with new seals. I left the hinge rivet as davidoft recommended The steel frame is fairly crusty at the bottom I’m hoping it will survive the acid bath.
Thanks for that @paradox , I’ve got to refurb my quarter lights at some point so appreciate the detail. Hope you’re feeling better!
Lots of time consuming and fiddly prep done Then etch primer and paint. I’ve now got satin black parts to rebuild the cab door with. I just need to treat and paint the steel d frame and wait for new quarter light seals to arrive along with finding someone to help me refit the cab door.
Yay the steel d frame has survived the acid bath and my quarter light seals have arrived So when I’ve painted the d frame I can rebuild the quarter light. I’ve also pulled the bearings from the front hubs and given them a thorough clean.
