1967 Lotus White Beetle Restoration (The Dreaded "One Year Only" - What was I Thinking?!)

More recovering of parts but I did attach the gearbox cradle to the rear horns. This was a brand new cradle from VWH but aftermarket and fitting is way off. You have to use mega brut force to line up the big bolt holes I just hope the gearbox actually attaches via the mounts properly. We shall see.

Anyway the gearbox is untested and the axles are still attached but one axle is very very stiff. Is that indicative of a *****ed axle/gearbox? Never torn one down before but I may have to at this point...

 

A few parcels were delivered today from various outlets but for sure the best deals came in from GSF. As normal they had a weekend deal on (and jacked their prices up slightly to counter the discount). But perhaps they didnt realise come Tuesday after the bank holiday the code was still working against the reduced prices. With free delivery I managed to get quite a few parts very cheap indeed

I ended up restoring it in 6 months, just in time for my wedding last December. No joke, I was still working on it re-doing the clutch and loading it up onto the trailer the night before the wedding! The first time I'd ever driven it was on my wedding day. In fact, it was the first time the car had been driven in over 30 years!

I'll go back to start and upload some photos of the build. Nice to have finished it though!
