Just an idea, but i hear from a reliable source i know, that 3D tellys are coming right down in price as ,believe it or not, they are becoming a flop simple because the watcher has to wear glasses in order to watch the 3D ness of it...so... ...
Why cant you just buy a removable screen that goes on the front of the telly made of the same stuff as the glasses? (the clear ones, not the one blue lens and one red lens, before anyone says anything...;) ).Then when a programme is transmitted in 3D,just have an option on the telly to watch 3D, or normal view...?

  2. We bought a 3d tv a few years ago, passve not active due to the costs of extra glasses.
It's a gimmic we don't use it much.
But I must say nature program's are fantastic to watch in 3d.
Think off the hassle off putting a cover and storing it on a 52inch tv hung on a wall above a fireplace, unless they fit it within the tv using a roller blind type system.

  3. The blue and red lenses are so last year.

  4. Because your left eye needs to see one colour and your right the other i front of the tv it will be both at the same time.

Their are some that are coming out like this tho but really expensive.
And with 4k tv coming it means the quality of tv improves greatly and 3d will too.

  5. The BBC have given up on it for now due to lack of demand and cost.

  6. It uses depth perception to create the 3d

I told a TV salesman it won't last a year or moire back he claim it was selling. Like said above who really wants to put on glasses to watch TV . its clarity and sound that counts.

The inlaws have one just because its the latest fad..... Father inlaw paid for it and he is blind!! Work that out!

Anyway I tried it and I already wear glasses so it was a right faff and after a minute or two I got headaches.

My tv is around 7/8 years old, no fancy Marmitee and does what it needs to.

I won't be buying a 3D tv nor one with all this Internet crap on either

  11. We've got one, but never use the 3D bit, exactly because of having to put the glasses on, i'm not sure how they work but they do affect your vision at the point in the room where you are, so glass over the top of the tv is too close to image to allow the 3d effect to work, polorising of something?

  12. Whilst the newer glasses 'look' clear they aren't. It's just a filter giving the same effect as the old red/green efforts.
I can think of 20 or so mates who've bought them and never used them. Many complained of headaches.
Buy a higher quality HD TV instead.

  13. Bring back black and white analogue tvs thats what I say. A welcome distraction from my 3d (oops 4d) actual reality world>:)

  14. Aren't the clear ones some kind of polarised glass?

    Nearly bought a 3D TV, glad I didn't now.

  16. I agree with the not bothering about it but you should see piranha 3dd in 3d (and not for the killer fish I might add!).

No proplem for me my brain is far to smart to be fooled by some glasses so 3d tv does not work on me

    Apparently 1 in 5 can't see 3d

Telly now is generally crap and full of adverts so it doesn't really matter whether its 2d, 3d of 28d it'll still be repetitive and swamped with ad breaks that are almost as long as the program.

  19. Just turn the colour down via the remote
