If you have, you'll know what it is. :D
What did it replace and how does the noise compare?
    Ta. :)

Trevs got one fitted to his splitty, the quality looks very nice, it wasn't showing any sign of corrosion/discolouring and the sound was good - don't know what it was like from the inside whilst travelling though!

    Shaun (68_early_bay has one too)

  5. No pre heater pipes?

  6. considering where they`re made they are stonking ,only heard good things ,know a few peeps whith fairly highpo engines and they love them . I`d get one for myself but the type 4 one is a tad expensive at the moment

  7. I fitted one to that splitty I just did!!

    Big

    Nice and quiet too

    I have fitted a few
They look nice , sound nice fit nice, BUT they get surprisingly rusty after 3or4 years, do they have a long warranty?

  10. I have the type 4 version so they can't be too different? The zorst isn't loud as such, has quite a deep sound which is definetly louder than stock but in a good way. I think my air filters and carbs add to the sound which makes the injun quite loud overall.

I'll be well miffed if mine starts rusting in 3-4 years considering its supposed to be high grade stainless.

What I will say is that I have never seen such a neat and tidy weld. Considering I used to make pressure vessels I was quite handy with a welder but never saw welding as good as this

  13. If its 304 it will corrode slightly but not that much I'd have thought unless it was parked in the sea

Due to circumstances causing a lack of funds I've been in denial about wanting one of these for the past year, but I finally ordered one earlier in the week to be ready to fit at the weekend c/w weld-on flanges for the heat exchangers.

Meanwhile I've been investigating my jetting, ordered some bigger main and air correction jets and found some better emulsions that won't flood it if I put my foot down. Carbs are interesting. There are so many ways to skin the cat there is no ideal answer to the jetting and emulsions. I really should have been doing this a year ago instead of pottering about running too lean.

Also a once over for the electricals is due first.

All prompted by some misfire/popping in the exhaust. If all that lot (which needed doing anyway) fails, I've probably cracked a head or got a sticky valve but I doubt it, I drive to the guages and haven't been too naughty. If I have, I have and the engine will come out and that'll get me thinking about what else I can do to it to come out with some upgrade instead of just repair. Perhaps reinstate the C35 cam - it's torquey, but it had more wellie at higher revs with this cam. Then as the case is split it'd be rude not to have the guts dynamically balanced. :D

Funny how one thing leads to another, if I had the readies I'd be installing a pair of Dells as well but that'll have to wait, hopefully not for another year.

  15. Got me thinking now. I have the dells which were jetted for an 1800 on the rolling road, currently installed on a 1700. If I'm in say 4th gear doing 40 and floor it it just roars like its sucking in stacks if air and no fuel bogs down and does nowt. If I knock it down into 3rd however it soon picks up its heals. I assumed the jetting would be fine, when they were fitted to the 1800 I hardly ever had to change gear, this 1700 one seems happiest actually sat in 3rd where it will happily rev through at over 65mph without any issues

Might take a trip back to the rolling road. Thanks Zed for stirring some juices

  16. mates got one on his early and it nicely made fits well and much quieter than the single quiet pack it replaced if fact bet its not much louder than stock zorst just abit deeper noise

So, it arrived this morning and sat there staring at me from it's box, along with the jets and emulsions...
...It's very quiet compared to the beetle exhaust I had on which was just too small.
Re-jetting + the exhaust and it goes like a rocket.
Not cheap but worth every penny.

  18. I got one when I put my new engine in. I think it's quite loud on the motorway compared to the standard exhaust I had before.

But it looks lovely so I don't care.

  19. Guy round the corner has just had one fitted, went past me with a great big smile:)

    Sounded awesome:D

  20. Are you going to tell us what it is?
