are kick panels a tight squeeze?

  1. just received some from madmatz and they seem to be a tight squeeze... anyone else found this with theirs?

    :) thanks x

  2. i cant get them in....its too tight.... :( and the wires on passenger side are in the way x

  3. I think i had to bend mine the wrong way to fit the two sides in first, then push the middle so it fits (if that makes sense!)

  4. i have original panels and they are tight to fit are yours plastic , the original are hardboard and easier to bend than plastic fantastic

  5. I could barely screw the drivers side one on!

  6. ^^^^^ This is how I got mine in - and they're the plastic ones. Another tip - if you're fitting one of those plastic shelves under the dash, put the kick panels in first - they're even more difficult to fit once the shelf is fitted.

  7. theyre wood i think... fairly heavy anhway... and not much bend at all... will have to have a go another time when im not so easily annoyed... but glad theyre all like this... :) thanks all x

  8. Slot one end in behind the totem - get it in as far as it will go. Then, grab the middle of the board with one hand, and the end opposite to the totem in the other hand. Bend the middle with one hand, guide the end into the slot at the base of the A pillar with the other. It shouldn't need too much of a bend to get it to give just enough to slot the other end in at the A pillar. If you're gentle, then you should be able to get them to fit.

  9. thanks baybirmingham x

  10. I had ply ones and got the bit in behind the totem, had my right hand on the outer edge, ready to pop it in the groove, as I pulled it out (nearly enough) It snapped :( I had covered them in black vinyl as well :(. I bought the JK plastic ones. Popped straight in and look good.

It was about time I bought something that isn't a load of old poo that doesn't fit :)

  11. thanks for the warning...i'll have to be careful x

  12. I sent my first ones back and madmatz and they agreed to sent me some smaller ones , there not much better though!!

  13. Snapped one of mine too :( fitted it anyway and it looks fine :)

  14. I had to cut mine down by an inch and reset attach the covering before they would go in. Look okay but if I have to take them out two or three times then I may have to replace them .

  15. exactley what baybirmingham said, ive got madmatz sizal kick panels, they are a a queeze, but do fit with some persuassion, even stock ones can be a handful

  16. Are these made from plywood covered in sizal matting. If so they will be a tight fit and its likely you will need to open out the grooved vertical bit on the A post they slot into as the original mill-board jobbies arent that thick! The plastic ones are even thinner. Ypu do normally get them in by bending them the wrong way!

  17. yeh was thinking the grooves may need adjusting :) the mattings quite thick you see too.... x

  18. Take it carefully if you do then you dont damage the paint!

  19. Yep, we got JK black plastic ones and they went in fine, just have to be a little careful sliding the one in behind the relays on the fuse box side, apart from that, all fab..... And easy wipe clean! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1363883965.842743.jpg
