I bought it ages ago and have read a couple of times, but I signed up on his website and recently he has emailed out chapter extracts. link was in my earlier post.
Thanks, I'd missed that. I did a search and found him anyway (after finding another Tom Watson who used to hit a ball with a metal stick and call it a sport )
Yes there the ones ....I am on insulin so you have to inject a lot more units of insulin if you are going to eat high carb meal . Sent from my SM-A135F using Tapatalk
Surprising considering your busy work, slim physique and your young looks... Tbh I used to have 2 sugars in tea, until I got married... Was told it was disgusting... It is. Cut back on all sugars... apart from beers...
It’s rubbish isn’t it. I was pre diabetic about 4 years ago, and was advised to knock the beer on the head. So I went tea total for a year or so, and was fine in no time really. I have had a slight relapse, and have a few beers at weekends now, and was still fine at the last blood test. Just lay off the sweet stuff for a bit, and you will be as right as rain! And think of all the money you will save… before you know it, you will be able to afford a gallon of unleaded
Oh dear. the joys of being middle aged I suggest choosing beer over sweets or biscuits for your sugar allowance. Have you asked for a second opinion?!!
Holstien Pils is a low carb and sugar lager ...Shame they made it 5% from 5.5 % ruined it . Cider is high in carb and best avoided if you are on diet only Diabetes or tablet prescription .
The idea of having to drink Holstein Pils for the rest of my days is too horrible to contemplate. I shall have ale on occasions... I don't really drink these days, never at home on my own, and largely if I'm out then I'm driving. Camping is the exception to any rules, and rightly so!
Alcohol can lower your blood sugar level if you are on insulin, you have to bare it in mind ..otherwise you will wind up with too little sugar in your blood particularly with spirits . You will be fine Sarah sounds to me you have caught it in time to get it sorted .
If you enjoy your favourite beer then have them in moderation and not every day. Try to cut out the sweet stuff like sweets and chocolate and adding sugar to tea and coffee. Its shocking how much sugar people consume these days and manufactured foods and ready meals and some cereals like Frosties and others are loaded with sugar. I like my cereals and eat only Weetabix and Porridge Oats which are low sugar and good for you. Many diabetics are able to keep their average blood glucose within a good range, by diet alone. You can do it too. On the positive side, you were lucky and got an early diagnosis, there are probably many thousands out there who have not been checked out.
It is only a risk at present, it is for most of us as we get older. Cut back on daily sugar then the feasts and holidays can still be fun. Learn to love tea that cannot support the teaspoon.. Its one of the things of our diet- what has been for thousands of years a treat we get at fruit harvest time then nothing much for the rest of the year, has become a daily expectation, then a cheap way to provide calories.
I had a seizure out of the blue 15 years ago that was put down to low blood sugar levels and and a viral infection(flue) I was subsequently diagnosed as diabetic. I had previously read an article by Bryan Appleyard about Paleo diets and diabetes which mentioned this book. After reading it I went the caveman diet route and haven't had carbs (apart from red wine) since, not diabetic anymore!! https://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Evolution-Diet-Weight-Longer/dp/0091929571 Good luck
