Chimney Sweeping

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by orangefeeling, Sep 22, 2017.

  1. Swept our last year..1st time in 14 years ,
    next to nowt came out,,
Small amount of soot ,some cement dust ,1 pigeon

Won't be doing it again in a hurry..:D

  2. I ignored our for 17 years until I had a chimney fire. Chimney resembled a volcano hot pieces ember falling all over the driveway and cars. I must confess I slightly panicked
Threw a saucepan of water into the raging Stove put the fire but ended up costing me 4K for a new stove , lining etc
Last was the time I used off cuts from site

  5. It's what you feed it with
Just don't use treated timber or pine because of the sap sticks to the liner

  6. Yup possibly,
    we use seasoned local trees,
and some pallet wood as kindling,..

Although some chipboard has been got rid of too..

tbh we only have a 5 kW burner,
that ticks over on the few occasions we use it..

  7. A hot fire will burn all the sap away, and most other stuff. If you let it smoulder, on low, that's when the the smoke gets up the chimney and condenses the impurities.
