Doombar

  1. I am also a fan of Doom Pedigree and other ales of that ilk. I am also curious as to what the OP drinks normally and is comparing it to.

Have you tried Titanic's Brewery ...White Star Golden Ale . Nice, shipped all the way from the Potteries . It's nice from the bottle

Badger do some really nice beers, Fursty Ferrit is one, Golden Champion another - chilled for a few hours they’re very easy to drink :D

  15. Though I'm a real ale drinker I'm not a huge fan of Doombar, as previously said it does seem to vary a lot. Get a well kept pint and it's OK but I've probably had more bad pints of Doombar than any other ale:(
On the other hand, Sharp's Atlantic..........

from what i heard molson coors jumped on the "real ale" popularity by buying doombar but after an advertising campaign in which the yuppies in london latched on to it thereby putting a strain on the doombar brewery so they started brewing it at another of their big breweries as well which has resulted in a "poorer" doombar - of course this could be heresay and rumours ;)

Had some St Austell Tribute at Hartland Quay yesterday lunchtime. Tasty with big portions of cod n chips for half Hamble prices.

30 years ago it was Courage Directors used to vary between vinegar and strawberry flavour in Eastleigh depending on if it was old or they had flavoured the pipework with detergent to get rid of the vinegar.

  20. I like it, but hobgoblin is nice as well but that gives me a hang over in the middle of the night,, that hurts alot I can remember sneaking out of a little hotel once as I knew I had pain killers in the glove box, but all the hotel doors were locked,, bit mission impossible, but I got em:burp:
