Electricians - RCBO question

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Dicky, Mar 23, 2014.

  1. Glad it wasnt me being a bit thick. Thought id found a dual pole rcbo but possibly not. If it was then it would be tikety boo. Will keep searching

  2. This is my understanding. Im convinced the kits being sold are single pole. So incorrect. Its a lot of fannying around to get DP isolation correct it seems.

  3. Hi @matty - are those MCBs dual pole (DP) or 1P+N (Single Pole Switched Neutral), which don't have any over-current protection on the neutral?

  6. What type are they @matty. All the ones ive found so far are C's - i would have expected B's (happy to be put right on that actually!)

  7. realistically, when are you going to need access to it...? First sign of an issue and it's tripped...
I'm not arguing the toss, and I can see why folk would want to be as safe as possible with mains voltage, but this business of being 'compliant' is a farce....who's checking? Fair enough if you're renting it out, but if you're competent, and install everything as recommended, I can't see the benefit, aside from a smaller physical component....same goes for gas....it's my van, I sleep in it, so I'll make damned sure it's safe....I couldn't give a toss whether it's been verified by a qualified technician or not...and I'm sure as sh*t not paying for someone to install, or validate something I can do myself, unless it bacame part of the MoT

  8. Nah you missed my point. Im not one for red tape and unnecessary rules (as ye know). Rationalle is to reduce size as I have somewhere I want to fit it. Accessibility is only an issue as i tend to load the back up and dont want to arrive on site and have to unload before I can get the kettle on cos its either tripped or I switched it off. Also useful as I like to test it once plugged in on site!

  9. Furry muff....I'm only jealous of your bijoux module:D
