Anyone know of a website to get cheap ferries, so far managed to get 140 with DFDS, P&O want nearly 200! Hoping to go first week of September.
http://www.ferrysavers.com http://m.directferries.co.uk We use britnay ferries Portsmouth to Caen to save on driving time but it still takes me at least 7 hours to drive here from Caen plus the 4 hours drive UK side kif m25 is running). Makes for a very long day with maybe an hours kip on the ferry.
Betty has had a look for you , Ferry on line.co.uk Compares routes and prices , cheapest shes found is £78 return for bus pending time etc
I think one of the clubs (Camping and Caravanning, maybe?) does discounts, so may be worth joining if the membership is less than the saving you'd make...
The Caravan Club certainly does a booking service, but when I was a member (never owned a caravan though) and enquired about ferry prices they were more expensive booked through them than before me on my computer direct with Brittany Ferries. Needless to say I never renewed my membership.
We go about 10 times a year. Use DFDS for Dover crossings with the bus, cheaper than P&O even with the added extra of 1st class lounge and premium boarding/embarkation. Bigger campers we use the tunnel as they don't specify size. If you're going South of France and don't live in the South East consider using Caen, Le Havre etc. more expensie but you get the money back by not driving all the way to Dover and then south from Calais, plus you get 8 hours rest on the ferry and can set off for a full day on arrival.
