  3. Yes it was in Clifton. First post I read on this website was in the stolen section. 'Bay window, doors/steering wheel nicked, clifton bristol. scary stuff. I've got a private parking spot now, gated, alarms, cctv the works. costs 79 squid a month but its worth it. There's some not nice ppl about...

  4. ie. that was exactly the same thing that happened to me - in exactly the same area. police couldn't even be bothered to fingerprint etc.

Ah, that's the bloke who's sold some right Marmitee then claims to be a private seller. Do a search on VZi for his garage name an look at the split...

  6. Sorry I don't follow baysearcher...?

  7. BS speaks the truth, I use Martin too and he's really good.

You know the garage name - go to the VZi site and search for it. ;)

I thought you meant it was a garage in Clifton that you suspect nicked your parts?
If so I guess its the one renowned for ripping off customers...

  10. Nono, I meant I live in clifton and a post on the 'stolen' section was identical to my misfortunes. Garage is elsewhere

Ah, I only know 1 in Bristol I wouldn't touch with a barge pole and it obviously wasn't him!

  12. Looks like an acuspark module by the way, at least that's the same as the acuspark one (red unit) fitted 2yrs ago after my Petronix blew up (the small black unit in the other photo)

Hope you get them to fess up, the instructions clearly state there must be a small gap but more to the point the petronix is much more expensive than the acuspark module, no doubt why they did it. For now I would buy a complete acuspark vacuum dizzy off ebay for about 60 squid, I was surprised how good it is.

    Good luck
    Ben

  13. Thanks Ben,

I hope I'll get them to fess too! Will let you know...

  14. That is indeed an accuspark/powerspark module fitted in your dizzy and not set correctly if its rubbing like that

I got sick of being ripped off by garages when i was younger so ended up learning how to do stuff myself
I must have saved a fourtune over the years aswell as gaining the skills and knowledge to help others out

I cant really comment on what previous mechanics have done to anyone busses but if your localish to me and want tme to give your bus a look over to see if anything pops out at me as not correct then im quite happy to for a few beers

  15. Where abouts are you paradox? Cheers very much for the offer :) a case would be the least I could do.

I'm really trying my best to do as much as I can myself, despite what this thread might sound like!

Nooster, I'm a bit closer than Paradox and although no expert I'm happy to give you a few pointers if you fancy leaving Clifton for the mean streets of Knowle one evening.

  17. Hah, thanks for the offer Baysearcher, again may well take you up on it in the near future.
Ah and we cliftonites do hear about the mean streets of knowle from time to time ;-)

Just dont make eye contact with the locals and you'll be fine.....
Are you going to contact the garage today?
    When was the "work" done?

As said its a accuspark one it should have 2 dimples on the bottom so it cant be fitted too close to the magnet its ether been fitted badly or the wrong magnet bit been fitted.
My guess is they blew the old unit and replaced the coil thinking was that then changed the unit with out fitting the correct magnet bit

Unfortunately there are a lot of bad experts out there as the scene is buoyant
the best advice i can give is have a go yourself and learn as you go or find a small place that does no advertising but is always busy
