  1. So will this help you and will you be happy with the stuff they provide on a budget to help your childs brain develope? Winners and loosers i suppose but will kids really eat properly like this ? With winter fuel payments they are asking the rich elderly not to take theirs will they do the same with this i wonder.?So is this going to be a you must eat school dinners ?? When i had school dinners we had proper food like stew n dumplins n mince n mash n toad in the hole n semolina  .Spose it will put a bit into the bus fund for some

free school dinners pah! kids don't know they're born being provided for, we had to walk a mile into town for sweets and chips when I was at school.

  4. The problem is, sweeping statements like this are released as a 'yeah! look what this wonderful coalition are doing for us' but (and its a huge but) there has been no funding earmarked (although apparently many governmental departments have a chronic underspend) and it's down to the individual education authorities how they develove the money. The same authorities who are having to close assisted meals for older people . Wrong, everything about it.

it's just another way to get kids fat, lock them in and don't let them out to fend for themselves, we kept thin by farting around down town for an hour and realising we were gonna be late back for registration so had to run back (running - remember that kids it's what us grown ups did before playstations) therefore fetching your own dinner was good for you.

I had free dinners when the fire brigade went on strike way back in time now. I found no stigma in other kids knowing as I knew they(their parents) had to pay for theirs and I got mine free. :D

Winter fuel, bastards are trying to cut that from us living in cold sunny France .:mad::mad:

  14. I just wish that Daniel Pelka had been given dinners, free or otherwise. Then we wouldn't be getting the next onslaught of Daily Mail social work hatred when all it needs is a few more social workers and less banker's bonuses

  16. The children that could really benefit from school dinners rarely have them due to parental/child choice. How on earth does a school dinner (hot meal usually) compare to cartoon plastered rubbish that is high in fat and sugar that are marketed to children throughout all daytime tv? Sausage and mash vs Dora the Explorer yoghurt in a tube, fruit shoot and spongebob dunkers, erm let me think like the average 6yr old

  17. Humm free school lunches, who's going to pay for it then.
Where will schools get their extra funding from cos they get a few extra £'s for every child on free school meals.;)
Think off he logistics not many schools got their own kitchens gets cooked far away and shipped in keeping it warm.
Think off the extra costs involved from the school providing extra dining space. Extra Administration chasing up johnnys mum cos she hasn't sent back the menu.
Extra dish washing facilities. The list goes on.

Plus I gave up eating hot school lunches some days it looked nice others looked like the dog barfed up something. It was Bad enough seeing it when I was a dinner lady.:easter:

  18. nick clegg didnt think of that or have to eat it .

I can remember we all got a bottle of milk in our first playtime in the morning. It was also in 1/3 pint glass bottles. If you we're milk monitor that week you missed out on playtime because you had to rinse all the bottles and stack them back into the crate.
