Where abouts all my ancestors came from Anstruther ...nice area . I would buy the Bentley manual or the haynes (bentley is better ) if you have not already got them . It explains the gear shift adjustment clearly .
I'm in Thornton it's about 30 miles from Anstruther it's a lovely fishing village and great for a day trip in the van I got how to keep your vw alive for Christmas not really got the cash for another manual
I nearly came up from derbyshire to view a bay at Anstruther it was a blue and white, would of been about three and a half years ago now ...i bottled out due to the distance .
The hockey stick ball is also what you are missing https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/bay...ockey-stick/?crumbStartPage=1&crumbStartRow=1 Pretty sure the bracket is steel so could be welded and fixed that way
You will need to replace that. Heritage should have one, I will be re facing them as soon as I can get the right grade of stone for my Table. Check that the bearing on the input shaft is tight as it looks loose to me, if it has any up and down play you have problems.
Ok got the bracket welded and fitted a new bush The gearshift is now stiff and the gearbox is on the van It was snowing so went sledging instead of fitting the engine
Yaay the vans driving Only thing is I tightened the clutch cable too tight and I can't slacken the wing nut now any advice how to do it? Also the oil warning light doesn't come on when I turn the ignition to the first notch don't think it was on before I took engine and gearbox out is this a problem ?
There is a hex part of cable between cable and threads. Molegrips. If oil light not working how will you know you have oil pressure? Sender or wire, simple and cheap.
