Genuine NOS Wing Mirrors

  1. Yes,

Good idea! I'll whip my Marmitee ones off tomorrow when I visit him in storage and compare them. I Think the problem with mine is that the nut is cross threaded and won't tighten up against the washer to lock them.

I'll post a pic for comparison if it helps anyone? For reference they are the cheapest JK ones...

    Cheers

  2. Hi All,

For reference here is the pictures of my ropey ones, just removed them. The thread is tiny and the casting does look awful compared to the others. I am going to email a stockist of the current repro Hagus mirror to see if they can confirm that the eBay ones aren't simply mis-sold duplicates of these!

PS Is it normal for the captive nut to move a bit?

    Cheers

the captive nuts on the doors on our westy do move when you remove the mirrors however, the ones on our 73 (Brazilian doors) don't appear to

  4. Thanks for that,

Mine are Cali Import doors, not sure of year? Sounds like a little movement is to be expected then!

  6. I'll have to have a look... but they were genuine when I took them off ;)

  7. Lol you tease

It does seem a shame to powdercoat/paint a set of genuine mirrors black
    But then again needs must

  8. They'll be painted dude... powder coating might muff up the mirrors!!

  10. Yes,

Have seen some with Hagus stamp, but always presumed they were later ones produced as replacements post production? Didn't seem right that VW would have a logo on them from the get go. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

    Cheers,

Wanna swap, I have a genuine mirror from a commercial, they come painted white, but easier to get paint to stick to than shiny ones, I only have one. But I know where there is a nos one
