Going to the Dam

  1. Going to Amsterdam for 5 days... Anyone been before on TLB? Gave up smoking 9 months ago:thinking: What do to? i am going to the Ann Frank house, well when in Rome:D

  2. Rijksmuseum has opened again I think, that's always worth a visit. The Van Gogh museum is good.

Amsterdam is a very walkable city - the inner rings of canals are great for strolling around.

  3. Going with a bunch of mates. I'm not sure that site seeing is on their agenda. However i wouldnt mind getting out and about.

  4. Red light district then - lots to see - there are actually some wonderful buildings around there and great bars and pubs. Dam Square is always interesting, the bars around Leidseplein and Rembrandtsplein are touristy but a good laugh. Frankly just potter about, you can't go wrong in Amsterdam. If you want somewhere less touristy try the Jordaan and de Pijp areas - still great bars but less nutters.

  5. its not as good as it used to be ....

You can always spend a few hours in The Ship in the red light district taking bets on how long the punters visiting the ladies opposite are going to last.....

  7. Best thing to do is find a good bar and people watch. You don't need to smoke you can invibe the canabis simply breathing the air in the brown cafes.
The boat trips are ok. Use a canal taxi rather than a pre booked tour much cheaper
The Heineken museum was ok to spend a couple of hours if its wet. :)

  8. Its a nice city to visit. I like to have a mild smoke somewhere. Then a visit to a nice cafe for a coffee and apple pie, then a nice walk around the place. Its a great city for the pedestrian. Its not all about dope.

The red light part is just amusing. 30yrs ago I mightve you know, ahem. But I am older, wiser and above all married now.

  9. don't eat a slice of space cake all in one go! it WILL. mess. you. up!

if it is your first time defo go to a coffee shop. dont need to smoke but try a muffin or some cookies. (space cake)

  11. Well after much thought i may have a little smk with a coffee. I'm looking forward to it and although a have certain expectations i hear so many stories that are mile apart of being consistent
    :) will be fun......

  12. Can I come - never been!

  13. Grasshopper. That's all I'm going say :)

  14. Yep lol, 1st stop. Go downstairs, get stash THEN go to hotel.

  15. There's better places for that. Just saying

  16. ye i know but its closest. :) and on the way after one leaves the station. But in general i'd go elsewhere too. The grasshopper can be a bit full of tourists. I use it only as a stop gap to get in the mood. Then i go to one that I cannot remember its name but I know where it is. :) Bit more chilled and friendly with better music.

Steer clear of the millions of bull-dog bars. They're pony.

  18. I also avoid pubs full of brits. Also never buy dope from hawkers on the footbridge. My mate once bought some liquorice by mistake and hasnt allowed to forgot it ever since. Only guy I know who can go to the dam and buy fake dope. Same guy that got banged up overnight over here for being drunk in charge of a pushbike and a jack russel.
