Most if not everyone will agree but it has not done a thing has it ...you may as well have a campaign on the person who invented it rather than hopeful oscars or whatever .

  4. It hasn't. In its entire history, the CND achieved nothing. I don't think the sight of a bunch of beardo guitar-strummers really had much effect on the Soviets. Interesting to speculate where the CND's funding came from. Useful Idiots, as Mr Lenin used to say.

A load of workshy Crusties were never going to stop a Superpower but bless them for trying . Would have made a great cheesy 80s washpowder TV ad getting them all cleaned up .

  10. I don't think they were crusties, just well scrubbed middle-class beardos, possibly called Malcolm and Cressida (see Viz's The Modern Parents for further details).

  12. No, Crusties have dreadlocks, live in an old van and scratch themselves a lot. The Modern Parents live in fashionable North London and these days attend Just Stop Oil demos.

  13. Ah I understand now the rough old vans or buses and the great unwashed .Do new age travellers still exist ? Or have they been replaced with protesters in Vendetta masks .

  14. Haven't seen any for ages. Used to be few round our way. Pleasant enough folk, if a bit smelly.

Maybe they've all moved to Glastonbury?

  17. Nah, they're just your usual as-you-likies. Ask to see their extensive collection of "pre-owned" power tools for sale.

I always have been, and will continue to be, a supporter.

  19. Same for Greenham protesters, didn't stop the ultimate aim of stationing Yankie WMD's here, but a noisy, disruptive and costly reminder that people have a right to protest.

Far more effective than apathetic armchair keyboard warriors.
