  1. Thanks for having me on board, it looks to be a great site and will help me with my newest project, a 1978 South African Kombi.
Its to keep my 72 fastback and 67 Variant company. I hope I'm posting in the right place.

  13. Hello and welcome Tim,

    looks like a "Mikrobus 2000L".

But strange - inside the luggage compartment I see chrome strips like on German L(uxury) buses,
which are comparable to the South Africa "Microbus Executive 2000L", see https://www.vw-t2-bulli.de/data/books/brochures/1976-xx-vw-t2-bus-za-ad.pdf
but outside there is no evidence of this (no chrome strips, no chrome in the window rubbers, no chrome bumpers).

Is anything known about the factory trim level?

    regards,

  18. My bus is the 2000 cc twin solex 34PDSIT version, although I have seen 2 modules on the left side of the engine bay that may possibly be associated with FI, i dont know yet as I have not checked out the specs. Bus is virtually rust free, except for the battery tray and tailgate bottom panel which will need a small repair.
The engine is running as it had a replacement head fitted by the po, due to a cross threaded plug. But all the tin work has not been refitted, which is a major reason for me being here, now that I have discovered the site, it looks like a world of late bay info, all in one place. Great stuff.
At the moment my intentions are to get the bus driving so I can move it around the house, while I work on the variant. As soon as the variant welding is done, I will be straight onto the bus.
