Ideally you need to remove the top bump stop rubber... There is a horseshoe clip inside the bump stop arm... That'll allow the arm to drop down another inch, then you can give it a smack outwards and the arm will come off!!
I never remember and being too lazy to jack the arm up, just pry it up now and again to relieve the tension in the stop. It'll only move a fraction of a mm with each hit until it starts to come off the stop. How's the 2 hours looking? This job is same as replacing the ball joints, but easier because the ball joints are already done for you.
