  3. Absolutely nothing ,woke up recently and whatever great feelings I had for my bus had up"d and left, its stuck in a rented lock up and it will no doubt stay there till council tow it away cos I"ll stop paying the garage rent, prob sounds unusual ,fraid I am like that, once interest is gone ,that is that . recently unloaded a massive 35 year record collection for no money ,simply wanted it out my life.

My bus has become a big part of our lives in just a few years of ownership. Can't see not owning it now. It has been the catalyst for us meeting so many new friends and having so many laughs. Also rediscovering the joys of camping after a break.
Nothing like the attachment that @johnnysensi has, which is a great story, but I still love the thing :)

  8. I've always wanted a crew cab and a split screen van, now I got a split crew cab living the dream I don't drive it, sits in the garage doing nought.
But I wouldn't sell it for the love off money. Just wish my dad was around to see it. When he was alive he used to take the pee outa me big time for having a rusty camper van. Now I got a not very rusted one he would be impressed.

  9. I'll never get rid of my 74. We've had it since 2003 so unless we hit the skids we'll always have it. My youngest loves it and she has always helped repair it with me, she used to hug it and say goodnight as if its alive so there is an emotional attachment too. I'll always own it but I'll let her have it when she is old enough.

Maybe when I'm in my 80's and some spotty young kid who has been coveting my van from afar and knocks on my door and offers to buy it i'd consider selling it.

And then tell him to feck off my land before I release the hounds!!

I'm now also attached to the 72. Just been made an offer for it. Should have sold it but decided I like it too much so am going to keep it. A nice crewcab will complete my lineup.
    :)

And - I have become attached to her since the start of the resto,Im very proud of her and my work in getting her back on the road from being one step from the scrapyard. I may not make a big deal of it in day to day life but I am. And I have always loved driving my buses.

  12. I've only owned Gigi since 2008 and some of you know I bought her when my hubby developed his terminal illness. I fitted disabled ramps to her to get a wheelchair in, I've carried shed loads of stuff to the local tip in her, she's carried all sorts of stuff when I moved house and has been a proper workhorse really. I even got a 4ft aquarium in her a few weeks ago and a cupboard thing to stand it on! I cried when she failed the MOT but then thought - hang on a minute, she is 39 years old. The old girl is having a rest now over the winter when she will have a bit of restoration ready for her 40th birthday next year. Thank you old girl, you have introduced me to so many new friends and traveled the length and breadth of Britain and no doubt you still have a few surprises for me too. She is such an eager to please van and has hardly let me down. I love her to bits

  13. What does our. Bus mean to us.? A drain on what money we have left after the kids have had their share, oil drops on the drive, scraped knuckles from maintenance, but all the fantastic holidays and weekends away and the smile as I drive in her mean she is part of the family so with us a good while yet.

  15. If you're inclined to give it away I can see a queue forming behind me....

Not sure I've any real emotional attachment to my bus, however it reminds me of childhood and is something I can't imagine wanting to get rid of (again) having done that once and missed it. It's like a very familiar friend

Yup.And i like to hide under it when the kids are playing up and the wifes shouting too...and then come back into the house when its quiet, covered in oil i smeared on myself after 'doing some routine maintenance.'.;)

ermm, i used to love cars when i was younger and some of the ones i had i'd be obsessed with cleaning or looking after you know? but in the last 10 years i just couldn't giva a crap about them even down to the point i would only clean or service them if i couldn't get a dodgy mot and thought i better make the effort..... the van is the only thing that has sort of got me back to a stage of being proud of a vehicle but i'm still nowhere near sticking my cock up the exhaust like some people are..... the van has found me new friends but made me skint, made me happy and made me sad in so many ways, it currently holds the record as the 2nd vehicle i've owned for the longest time (well number 2 position) i ususally get rid after a year 'cos i get bored easy, the only vehicle i've had longer is a 69 landy which i sold then bought back a year later but then sold again. I'd sell it or swap it though if you happen to have a nice 68 tintop early deluxe in red.
