Having started to experience the starting problems I had last Summer (hot days only) with the bus being used right through the Winter and starting first time every time I decided to fit a hot start relay. Bought the bits and ready to crack on tonight but failed at the first hurdle... Where is the starter motor? I've crawled under both sides on my back but just can't seem to find it and only succeeded in getting underseal in my hair! Do I need to jack her up to find it? Help very much appreciated.

No - make him get his Haynes out.

 

I had it replaced by a certain individual last year as he told me that was the problem. I even watched him do it, he jacked up the nearside a bit and it only took about 30 mins tops but I still can't find it. Didn't cure the problem either. You are right though, I should look for myself but I'll need to borrow a jack first.

 

I only have a Haynes for a MK1 and MK2 Golf - not going to help I suspect!
