My insurance is up in 2 weeks, 1st year i used Peter James last year I transferred to Cherished due to having a £75 off voucher, I'm not asking the age old who do you use question, just what price you pay - if you don't mind disclosing....... this year Cherished want £206.20 off me which I think is steep, the breakdown is as follows. Premium from insurer £120.00 Tax £7.20 Admin fee £25.00 Legal cover £26.00 Breakdown £28.00 For this I get 3000 miles 15k agreed value declaration on wheel modifications What do you lot reckon? I'll be honest I can't be arsed with the loads of pics for agreed value and spending ages ringing round to swap and save just a few quid but if i can save £50 plus i'll think about it. Ta in advance.
That Admin charge really gets my blood boiling. Insurance clerks work in an office and get paid to do - admin. We'll have to pay for their biro ink next or maybe we'll have a paperclip fee. Ohhhhh I'm going to get another one of my special pills and sit in a darkened room for a while.
Ring em up and say you have a cheaper quote. Knock about 23 quid off the quote they gave you and I bet the admin charge suddenly disappears! 25quid cash back!
The admin fee is probably because they're a broker? They're not doing it out of the goodness of their hearts!
well, i've rang peter james and footman james - both who appear not to work saturdays,so i've e-mailed both asking for them to contact me asap, i see no point in calling cherished to "negotiate" a lower price until i really have one, making up the £23 less fee is tempting but it's a bit naughty, i just wish companies would give their best price while obviously making their bit of profit - we all have to make a living i know, but over inflating prices just to see if anyone can be arsed to argue it down annoys me and wastes my time.....maybe that's the plan though? for every one person who does argue it down how many don't...... profit is king i guess.
I must insured my 78 Devon with Just Kampers for £194, that's including £100000 legal cover and breakdown cover uk £ Europe and home start, accident cover, admin etc etc etc. all in basically.
thanks DaisyJuckes the first price to compare, i realise we all are affected by postcode etc but your price isn't far off mine so if i'm aiming for £150 i might struggle...... now i'm waiting for some wag to say " i pay £50 and they fill it with petrol for me.......
Just got my renewal quote from Cherished £ 164 inc wheels and suspension drop mods. WR14 post code, 3000 annual and kept on drive
Mine is due sometime soon, I'm with cherished and I've recommended a few customers who took out policies. Im expecting it to go up but thats just the way it is nowadays i suppose. I had footman James before but wouldn't use them again, they charged admin fees every time I rang them. I once moved house which meant a reduction in my premium but then they charged a fee to change my address in their system meaning I owed them money. They often didn't know what i was talking about when i was asking classic car type of questions and couldn't answer straight away without referring to an underwriter, Result: I ended up hating the company and wouldn't ever use them again. It can't be difficult to insure an old vehicle that does a few thousand miles a year for gods sake.
