  1. Evening all

about a year ago I baught one of the JK Baywindow Cab doors that had recently been made avaliable at the time, not the brazil swage ones but the original design.

just today got round to unwrapping and offered up to fit and it dont!!!! :arrggh:

now i was expecting that it would need adjustment but this door is WAY WAY out! Am I missing something here, the door gaps are all over the show.

Has anyone fitted these doors succesfully and if so how??

iam ruddy tempted to try and repair the orginal door at the moment, cos ive had this door for over a year i wont be able to return it.

Anyone got any suggestions, does these doors actually fit, cos at the mo iam thinking NOT!

  9. maybe a stupid question, but have you tried re-fitting the old ones? I only ask because if you've done some major structural work, the A pillars might have moved. If the old ones don't fit either, that's the problem, if they do fit it's just the JK doors. I haven't used any for a while, but the last set i used were terrible. On a positive note, you can use the bottoms of the jk doors to repair your old ones. ;) why did they stop making that panel?? ???

The JK ones turn out to be VW brazil doors just like they have been for years. I hear they'll be back available from all the suppliers in due course. They should fit fine.

  13. I had forgoten bout this post lol iam gonna have another go later this week ive got a feelin it might be the hinge mounts need fettling a bit it looks like the van has had a bash in this corner in the past and the original door played with to fit hence the new one not fitting! Its really hard trin to line up on your own!

  14. Unfortunately I just bought a pair of doors and seals etc. from JK at considerable expense - (and had to wait for "back order parts") , I have just finished painting them , fitting all the locks winders etc which included the nightmare of re-drilling holes which were in the wrong place etc. etc. Anyway the passenger door fitted OK but moving on to the drivers door - no way - it isn't just a bad fit but completely and utterly wrong. I have tried putting extra spacers in, re-hung it a dozen times, the threads in the mounting plates stripped so I had to get some longer bolts, it now shuts but looks ridiculous and the door seal when fitted stops the door closing completely.
I am going to talk to JK on Monday and see what they say. I wil keep you informed.

Bit late now, but painting and assembling without trying them on (so to speak)?
I had one that also was miles out, JK were passing and agreed to take it back. I offered to hang it so they could see how bad it was and bugger me it almost fitted!
No idea what happened there, the garage pixi's must have sneaked in and sorted it out. They were still kind enough to take it and it's partner away though.

  16. Surely even though its painted, if it doesn't fit it doesn't fit, THEY should still take it back as we buy these parts expecting them too?!
Yes, maybe should've offered it up but you buy on trust, or maybe that's just me being stupid, I dunnoo_O

They come with a big sticker that says trial fit 'em before you paint 'em...

  18. Given that it's a VW part, I can't think why they wouldn't fit.

Trial fit everything before doing anything with it!

I've fitted new ones before. Someone had them stashed away for years and they went straight on. I think if a customer wanted new ones I'd go for the older one's @shielsy has for sale - nobody seems to want them...

  20. I think I need at least one? @Paul Weeding ?
@shielsy do you have a price delivered to Paul or me?
