Seems unlikely to me (the flexi coupler bit). The flexi coupler might take out some normal driving wheel vibration though? Perhaps @Huyrob can comment.

I don’t really have any knowledge of the technical side, all I can say is I never had any issue with wheel vibration before installation ( and none after) . One very noticeable benefit was after fitting all previous trace of “ wander” virtually disappeared although at about the same time I upgraded tyres and increased tyre pressure so can’t specifically attribute it to Litesteer. All I can say is that now, on motorways with an overtaking HGV I have no concerns at all.

You realise I meant steering wheel vibration? I should have made it more clear.

The U/J would allow at least as much movement in a frontal impact, it has more articulation compared to the rubber coupling, however, on mine the column is fixed to the floor with six bolts and it isn’t going to move much.

The flexible coupling does act as a vibration damper but I can’t say I noticed a difference at the wheel with the U/J. It does make the steering more positive removing the slightly vague feeling.

Yes I took it you meant steering wheel vibration.

You are obviously reading something in Huyrob post that I didn’t. It wasn’t addressed to anyone in particular and to me it was just a review of Lite Steer from someone that has it and is delighted with it. What did I miss?

    Thankyou, that was my intention.

  12. Don't think the flexi's for crash protection (the little there is). The top mounting bracket on a Late Bay is intended to fold up if the (rather flat) steering wheel hits you in the stomach. I wouldn't want to have a head collision in a Bay anyway, although Lates are safer than Earlies or Splits.

I'd always assumed the flexi is to take out some vibration - the front beam has no isolating bushes - and to correct any slight misalignment in the column and steering box mounted on the frame.

The newer Litesteer just has two mounting holes, but the outer column isn't really taking any torque at the bottom - the mounting bracket does that.

I'm still mulling over whether having the speed signal generated by GPS is a good idea...
