Sorry for my ignorance but can anyone please point me in the direction of how to get a heritage letter from VW? My bus was first registered in June 79 but I'm wondering when it was actually manufactured to see if I too can already save on the tax?! Many thanks Dan
Have a look here.. http://www.thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/van-now-tax-exempt.82446/#post-1572364 Youd need to send an email to:- type.approval@vwg.co.uk
Hmmm I applied to VW Germany who produce the document once they have received your payment Good luck as it is all in German
Thank you. I’ve sent my details off to type.approval@vwg.co.uk I’ve had an auto reply saying there is a delay due to system errors but I’m not in a hurry.
when i enquired the return letter said they couldn't find the required documentation ( build date) but did include delivery date (to the usa) the dvla seemed happy with that
It doesn't matter where they are imported from.. or when, its down to original date of manufacture.. the log book will show both the date declared manufactured ( that's the important bit) and first date of registration in the UK .. the registration date is incidental.
sorry for late reply, i got a heritage letter from VW saying my Van (based upon VIN) was built in November 1978 - i sent this to DVLA with a covering letter and they changed it to Historic tax
1998 cc is original Type 4 engine. Pretty sure the Golf GTI engine that now resides there is the same
1971cc is original 2.0l type 4, 94mm bore x 71mm stroke, that’s why I was curious what the 1998cc engine was.
