  1. Good luck with that one! Maybe it could double as a water container though...

  2. I'm having a 350mm cube made with upholstered lid for a buddy seat.

  3. as in an empty box?

  4. Yeah with a piano hinged lid to be used for storage of stuff and double up as a moveable seat. It will sit in the walk through, not sure how I'm securing it yet though.

  5. Not updated for a while but been busy all the same. Started to trim the exposed metal work in white vinyl and ran some cables. The windows are finally in with a chrome trim and some panels are ready and fitted. The fibre glass window trim on the sliding door was a nuisance and had to be modified however all fitted now! Some photos to show progress...

  6. What are the odds of my van being ready for Eskdale next week!

  7. Well I'm not going to make Eskdale but being ready for Easter weekend is looking likely!

Interior panels are fitted except for the front doors. The rock n roll bed seat cushions are done but not fitted yet and the rear mattress will be done early next week then the upholstery will be complete.

Oscar has gone in for a front panel respray today to get rid of all the holes a previous owner had put in for some reason or other and to finally get his VW badge put on which was actually the very first thing I bought for him!

Oh and the kitchen unit I ordered arrived at 8:30 this morning in loads of pieces - quite a bit of work to be done but the end is in sight. More pics to follow when I get him back.

  8. Wow, great job! You'll be sleeping in it soon. Or laying there listening to the children and wife sleep. LOL

  9. Hi GBCamper how did you stick the Dynamat / Silentcoat to the floor/panels i can see joining tape, but did you spray something onto the panels? Just thinking about this stage when mine comes back.

    Thanks Ian

  10. Both Dynamat and SilentCoat have a self adhesive backing. You simply peel off the backing and position it. It is really sticky, both were very good.

To be honest I was sceptical about SilentCoat considering it is so much cheaper however having done the doors in SilentCoat I can not honestly tell the difference between them and the rear panels in sound deadening. The SilentCoat is a bit stiffer but not to the point where it is difficult to apply. I would definitely save myself some money and get SilentCoat in the future.

  11. Cheers. Probably the latter :)

  12. Thanks GBCamper much appreciated the feedback is, probably go with the cheaper option as my resto budget is approaching the 4th road bridge re-painting costs ;-)

  13. Mine is in the body shop today to get the orange part of the front panel re-painted after all the holes have been welded over. body shop just called - when they removed the masking tape from the white bit of the front panel it has pulled all the paint straight off. Looks like the previous owner has had a cheap and cheerful respray done (i.e. crap). Better get saving for a full body respray...

  14. *******er with the paint but coming along nicely!!

  15. Cheers Dicky. I'll finally have pics of that kitchen unit soon once I have assembled all the bits. How is your minimalist kitchen coming along?

  16. somewhat more minimalist than intended. So minimalist its not actually there at all! (totes rad!)

  17. This weekends task has been to put together the kitchen unit which involved creating a lot of sawdust while trying to get the hob to fit. Why on earth do these things not come with a nice easy template to cut around? Anyway, all done ready to lift into Oscar next week.

  18. Wow!!! what unit did you use?

  19. It was a bespoke one off I got made at a local flat pack furniture company. It didn't need too much modification to put it together and the great thing was it was 100% made to measure so my fridge fits perfect, the front kick panel just hides the bottom of the fridge and the size of it fits with what I wanted. I have got a drawer unit which will go inside the cupboard and also a worktop extension which will hang of the right of the unit as you look at it.

Other items I got included a matching kick panel for under the R&R bed and a 350 x 350 x 350mm hinged lid buddy seat / storage box which will live in the walk through but will move around to suit. Once I get this lot in I will be getting a table top cut and an overhead rear unit made. I just haven't had time to measure and design one to get it made up for me.

  20. Spookily enough my lack of interior has led me to knocking something up temporarily. Decided on sink/cooker unit using my existing appliances. A seat unit between that and the rear seat and... an overhead locker. This is a far as ive got today! Different tack to you but nonetheless similar progress!
    Just cheap 12mm ply.
