The way round that in an Audi is to press the Very Important Meeting button on the dash. This will automatically start the headlights flashing on main beam and accelerate the car up to 90mph
Usually it goes into a countdown mode stating how many miles before limp mode as pedro and milky say!
I know they ran 6 speed 7 speed DSG boxes, one is wet clutch the other dry - I know one is a lot more sensitive to oil change frequency (assume that's the wet clutch one) but both need the filter doing - and the oil is daft money - it was a £200 job on her tiguan and I did that myself.
I would happily swallow the servicing cost for a decent gearbox , its the overhaul costs that can be eye watering .I saw one stripped down some years ago and certainly have lots of bits to go wrong .
Is it an involved job fella any specialist tools needed? This one I’m looking at on Thursday has had the gearbox service done by Skoda at the correct interval. He’s got the paperwork to prove it. Id imagine if it’s an expensive job a lot of people would skip it as the car gets older
On a tiguan - changing the oil is a doddle apart from it has one of those inverted cup oil level sump plugs so you need to pump oil in and above the plug to get the level (think of it as an upside down cone that you take the sump plug out of, then use a socket to remove the cone to drain it - then scre it back in and pump the oil over it until it starts to pout our - that is your fluid level). To get to the filter its a bit of a strip down - the MAF and air intake pipes and a bit more the filter sits on top of the gearbox - apparently you can refill from there, but it takes ages. This one is a dry clutch and the oil was surprisingly clear on replacement.
I've had my Yeti for 5yrs now. Absolutely love it! Mine is the 'urban' edition which was a pre face lift 2012 special edition which came with sports seats (like the monte carlo version but in a better colour!) DAB radio, bluetooth, 3 spoke leather steering wheel and plastic wheel arch trims (think mk2 golf gti) Mine is only the 2wd version with the 110bhp tdi which has been remapped to around 160bhp and 400nm torque. I wish it had 4wd on rainy days, purely for quick take off but general handling is excellent, specially with Michelin pilot sport tyres and the larger rear anti roll bar from vag group (think it was 30 quid delivered from ebay and was from a skoda superb estate) which i fitted without even jacking the car up. Pretty much all the running gear is shared with vag cars from the pq35 platform so spares are plentiful ( after the remap, the small standard clutch with the 5sp box couldn't cope so i retro fitted the 6sp box which uses a bigger clutch, driveshafts from a passat, gearbox from a scirocco etc) Admittedly the Dsg boxes are known for handling these power/ torque increases with ease. My dad owns a 59 plate yeti which is now a little less loved and is only showing a few scabs of rust on the bottom rear corners of the rear doors so a place to check. Also, when the wires started to break between the front doors and a post, the new door loom from skoda ( around 130 quid and a doddle to fit) is a modified design which allows for less stress on the cable bend. Instead of going straight across from the a post to door, it now drops down and up again in a U shape so a thing to look out for. The only poor thing about it is the carpet trim on the back of the rear seats seem to bobble really easy which looks a bit messy. Also check the spare wheel option has been fitted
Cheers I was going to ask if the dsg gearboxes could handle the extra torque from a remap but you’ve saved me asking. This is the one I’m going to look at on Thursday https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/23547970...kTkWe1ARmm&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Looking at the pictures I’m not sure if it’s the lighting or if it’s had paintwork on the passenger side.
It reads okay and if it belonged to an elderly person it's bound to have a few scars . Price seems good and much better than the 14k one which still seems astronomically high to me for 2014 Yeti . Fingers crossed its a good one .
Exactly right , well put sir ! Upside down one ideally needs a pump and the filler connectors /screw in fittings .With these it's a doddle
Checking the mot history and one year it failed on tyres been down to the cords That rings some alarm bells as it’s not indicative of a car that’s been cared for. I’ve messaged the seller to see if there’s any service history apart from the cam belt and gearbox service I’ve also asked if it’s been in an accident and if it’s hpi clear. It appears he might be a trader masquerading as a private seller
