I admire you all for your devotion to the game. When I were a lad, all our players were born, bred and trained local. Nowadays they may as well all come from Timbuctoo (some of them probably do) so it's not YOUR team anymore, it's just something that a foreign manager has cobbled together with the money that YOU have paid him. You may as well say that your Tesco is the best because it's at the end of your street but it's the same bloody foreign rubbish that you get in every other Tesco. It's not football anymore, it's money! Rant temporarily suspended.
You are entitled to your rant, I see it differently, I've supported Chelsea for 53 years, I've seen the very bad times and the very good, to me it doesn't matter where the players come from as long as when they put the badge on they work their socks off, My grandfather went to Chelsea until he was 81, my dad is 87 and he still goes,I'll be the same, as will my son, my grandson and so on
Yes and that's fantastic but it would be nice to see some of the kids who grew up there playing in the team! PS I wasn't singling out Chelsea, the same thing is happening to most clubs in the higher divisions.
Its ***** that's why England are crap as most of the top teams are full of foreign players and all the money from the league goes to them and not developing players in other divisions - rubbish.
I take your point and I think most people will agree with you, but I support my club and I will always as long as I physically can, continue to go
I think what I shamefully omitted to mention is that a club is as much the supporters as it is the owners/management /players. Good on you, Baz!
My granddad was asked to play for Barnsley but his parents died and he had to get a job to look after the family or they would have had to go into care- how times change his football wage now would have been a lot more than the pit wage.
