Steering idler pin replacement

  1. Thanks! Can't say I'm looking forward to this one, but will be nice once done.

  2. Hi guys, removed my old idler pin today as there was significant play at the top end. When i pulled the pin the top bush was sitting on top of the bottom one and i was able to just slide it up and out the top with my finger. it seems to me that rather than it being worn down perhaps the play at the top was because the top bush had slid down after time. (last pin change was 6 years ago) My question is; Am i able to place the loose fitting bush in between the two new ones in my new pin kit to stop this from happening again or is that just silly? As there is nothing to stop it working its way down over time.

So is it this pin that stops you being blown into the next lane... Might have to get mine fixed, don't fancy doing it mind you...

  4. I wouldn't do that... you'll block the grease nipple for one!!

Never heard of that, they're always very tight, somethings amiss. Possibly a cack-head widened the slot (split bushes) to get it in.

  6. It's one of several things that can blow you into the next lane...

  7. Thanks Paul, good point. Iwill do properly then. cheers, Mark.
