Might give me some time to bung up a couple of nets over all the nooks those leaves blow into

I’ve a sycamore at the top of the garden….they are welcome to it ….but probably only about 100 years old.

  14. Something good needs to come out of this senseless act of vandalism ! Why not take the trunk and use it to make thousands of simple identical symbolic items and all money raised could go towards maybe a woodland rewilding charity .A bit like all the ceramic Poppies sold at the Tower of London.

If it’s rewilding as they’ve been paying farmers to do in Wales it’s basically letting the woodland floor turn to brambles…..with the odd decaying fallen tree.

I’m not an expert, I just observe…re wilding seems to be a dream made up by people that don’t live in the countryside, I think when it’s badly done it’s a disaster.

@Moons, but when it's done well its brilliant and is our only hope to improve our abismal biodiversity in this country.

Looking at the typeface, I'm assuming this is copied from another source, so when I say that imo this is gossip not information as the piece claims, then I'm not having a go a you.:)

I found a news article where it suggests
    1. the guy had been in conflict with the Jesuits not the National Trust. and
    2. His big chainsaw obviously hasnt been used for weeks.
    3. He seemed to be just as upset by the felling as many people.

Truth has no place on social media sadly.

    Thanks, I think….

  20. Okay maybe replanting of trees with the money raised . I am one to try to make a positive out of a bad situation and if they can potentially create a small forest from one tree then that can only be a good outcome .
