I've got ICTs on the carp bus but they are a right James to start in the cold

  2. I ended up going with ICT's two blips on the throttle before starting and she starts on the button even in the cold.

  3. I have run ICT’s. Way better than the single progressive.

I still think it is a pity that somebody has not made a converter that converts a modern MAF sensor output into the AFM style output for the stock FI.

Also if you are starting with stock FI, you should really be able to get away with adding that modern MAF sensor to a modern aftermarket ECU, not having necessarily to buy a complete kit.

  5. I had a lot better performance with the ICT’s. I gave up on them when they started to leak fuel into the crankcase after a few years. The way out Westy article describes this.

They are probably comparable to the original dual carbs when they are running well in terms of power, which was quite good when they were new. The stock carbs were probably more drivable in a variety of climate conditions when all the hoses, solenoids, hoses, pipes, cutoffs, elbows to the hoses and the hoses were all in proper working order.

The ICT’s are a lot simpler to set up. Don’t touch them and they stay that way. I didn’t find the lack of chokes a problem in colder weather though I don’t drive it in the winter.

I am going back to the stock duals as mine have been rebuilt. I keep saying that as they sit pristine looking in a box in my basement. If they prove to be too tricky, I will go back to the ICT’s which also have been rebuilt and are in a box in my basement. I think I have 3/4 of a bus in boxes in my basement.

  6. Stock solexes with all the bits on the tintop work a treat.. she starts up whenever we go to her now and runs really well once set up right .. that took a few rounds of tuning but barely had to touch them now for four years.
The Dells on the dokka not really had much of a run in yet being were we are on driving about.. might have a another run at fettling with them over the weekend if it's not too cold, takes a while to start up at the mo but we'll see where that goes as a few on here seem to manage ok

  7. I think they will all do this unless you do the mods Mike (wayoutwestie) recommends. Mine has been fine since i got Mike to fettle them - he fitted a low pressure fuel pump, rebuilt/re-sealed them, rejetted and set them up. I already had a elec fuel cut off but that is only a partial fix for the fuel syphoning problem.
