WANTED Type 4 Thermostat, cooling flaps and all linking parts.

  1. So my cooling flap from ebay arrived today and looks good.

It has most of the fitting bits with it which makes life easier:

The only bit it doesn't have is the C shaped link that connects the oil cooler flap to the end of the bar - e.g. no. 40 in the picture at the start of this thread.

Does anyone have a spare on of these links?

If not, could one of you people who has their bits ready for fitting possibly do some measurements for me of theirs - I don't think it would be too hard to make one - just need to know the lengths of each side of it and the rough diameter of the wire it's made from. Thanks.

Could someone also confirm for me that no. 37 on the top picture is just a flat piece of metal that just stops the bar from rising. Also, any ideas what no. 45 is?

Have got a thermostat and cable on order arriving any day, and so I think once I sort out this C link and the bits arrive that I'm getting from Paul Weeding I should be ready to have a go at fitting them!

    Thanks.

  2. I think 45 is the rubber grommet for where the Cale come through the tin. The c shape bit is normally still attached to the other flap.

  3. I can measure the C clip wire on Saturday as I have to dismantle mine because some numpty (ie me) left the duct over the oil cooler in a cardboard box rather than assembling it with the rest of the tin after strip down!

  4. Thanks guys.

Fingers crossed I might find my link in there then when I take it all apart, but failing that if I get the dimensions i can make one. Excellent.

    Nick.

  5. Rickyroo1 - did you do the fitting of your cooling flaps at tekenders?

If so, could you let me know how it went, how easy it was, did you manage it without dropping the engine, any major parts you had to remove to get at it etc.?

Am hoping to do mine in the next few weeks and so any tips from someone who has done it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

  6. Keithandtrudystype2 - don't suppose you had chance to measure the "C" link wire?

    Thanks.
